The Directors of Scunthorpe United are extremely pleased to announce that John Godfrey CBE has accepted an invitation to become the Honorary President of the Football Club. Mr. Godfrey is one of the largest shareholders in Scunthorpe United Football Club Ltd and has served as a director on two occasions.

"I consider it a great honour and privilege to become President of Scunthorpe United Football Club. I have many happy memories of the times of my involvement with the club and look forward to helping the Club achieve even greater success" commented John Godfrey.

The Directors are also pleased to announce that Graham Taylor has accepted an invitation to become a Vice President of Scunthorpe United.

Chairman Steve Wharton said "I am delighted that both John and Graham have accepted these honorary positions. John is a major shareholder, a very successful local businessman and farmer, and a very worthy person to be our President. Despite our differences over the running of the club some years ago John has always put the well being of the club first and foremost and will be a good ambassador for the club.

Graham has always taken a keen interest in Scunthorpe United since childhood and is one of Scunthorpe's most famous sons. The Directors are very proud that he has agreed to become one of our Vice Presidents."

In accepting the Director's invitation Graham said, "I am both pleased and proud to accept the position of Vice President"
