NEW MONTH, NEW DAWN?
IronFist provides supporters with the latest of his blogs:
There are still 17 games to go. Yes, I know it is a big shock to some but there is still every chance that Scunthorpe United can be a Championship club next season if we believe.
The task is simple; get the same points haul that we got from the opening 17 matches of the season and we are safe.
There is no reason why it cannot be done either, four out of the next five games are at home. A little bit of belief can go a long way and if we manage to defeat Charlton at Glanford Park tomorrow - which will incidentally be our first home victory in almost five months - why can't we start a run which will propel the club up the table?
Charlton Athletic are first up, along with former Iron loan star Kelly Youga, and it promises to be a thrilling battle against one of the division's top teams. Can the Iron recreate the spirit they showed against the Addicks at the Valley on the opening day of the season? It was a tremendous afternoon in South East London and as supporters we need to recreate the spirit of that day.
It is great to welcome back Youga, who was a more than popular servant for the club during his stay at Glanford Park. He played 20 games and scored a superb first ever career goal in his last match for the club against Barnsley, a month ago today. He was a fantastic ambassador for the club and always had time for the young ones.
Finally, just as I wrote this blog, news emerged via Sky Sports News that the Iron completed the signing of Geoff Horsfield. He hasn't played much over the past couple of years but I have a feeling it could be a masterstoke. I also reckon the move could start paying off this weekend.
Keep smiling.
Up the Iron!
