DAWS PREDICTS BRIGHT FUTURE FOR JAKE

United's youth development officer Tony Daws says young defender Jake Picton has a promising future in the game if he continues to progress as well as he has this season. The tall centre-back has featured on the substitutes' bench for the final two games of the first-team season after winning rave reviews while playing for the reserve and junior sides.
And Picton, named Joe Stallard Youth Team Player of the Year at the club's awards dinner last week, has managed all this while still a first year YT.
"Jake's got everything you look for in a player. He's six foot odd, he's quick, technically very good and he reads the game well," Daws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
"He is improving week by week and game by game and certainly he's one for the future and we hope he comes through.
"I think we have four or five lads that are as good as Jake but they've not had an opportunity yet so hopefully the supporters will see more of that from next season."
