A round-up of Iron-related stories which the local and national media are reporting on Thursday:

It is reported that the Iron will have to pay a club record transfer fee if they are to sign Steven Gillespie from Cheltenham Town.

The Scunthorpe Telegraph say sources close to the Robins suggest United will have to beat their down payment of £275,000 to Stoke City for Martin Paterson, the forward manager Nigel Adkins is looking to replace.

They go on to link Mansfield's Michael Boulding, Doncaster Rovers' attacker Jason Price and Chesterfield prodigy Jamie Ward with moves to the club.

Adkins told the newspaper: "We are looking to bring in the right sort of player who will complement the guys we have already got.

"We have a list of players that we have been keeping our eye on throughout the last season.

"They include some who are young and hungry, some in their mid-twenties and a couple over the 30-year age mark."
