Scunthorpe United striker Gary Hooper is ready to outgun his old team-mate Aaron McLean this afternoon and fire the Iron to their first win of the season. Hooper and McLean played together during the 2005/06 season for Grays Athletic in the Blue Square Premier Division.

Paul Hayes' first-half penalty ended a run of three successive defeats for Scunthorpe and secured a 1-0 home victory over Peterborough. Hayes kept his cool to score low into the corner following Kieran Charnock's clumsy foul on Marcus Williams. Posh could have levelled soon after the break but Craig Mackail-Smith failed to finish from six yards. Gary Hooper and Garry Thompson both wasted good chances for the home side while Aaron Mclean blazed over for the visitors in injury time.

Martyn Woolford is hoping to make his Scunthorpe United debut against Peterborough today after a brace in midweek against his former side. The 8-0 rout of York City provided some much needed time on the pitch for the summer signing after a recent cheekbone injury.
