Bob Oates, who made more than 300 appearances for Scunthorpe, has been confirmed as a speaker as part of our Leeds United hospitality package on Saturday, August 9.

Oates was a former England Youth international who spent nine years with United, and will be hosting a question and answer session.

He signed as an 18-year-old in August 1974, and was given a run in the side during the latter part of his first season and again during 1975-76, before becoming firmly established for the next six seasons. 

Bob was a consistent performer especially at centre-back, although he often played in midfield. 

Oates was injured early in 1982-83 and did not regain his place until Christmas when he played at right-back.

He then had a spell on the bench, but was back in the team for the end of the campaign when injuries threatened the promotion push.

He was released during the following summer and joined Rochdale.

This is part of a great hospitality package, which the Iron are providing on the opening day of the season.
