It is the ninth occasion on which the midfielder, on loan from Chelsea, has won the award this season, and it follows another all-action performance in the Scunthorpe engine room.

As for the game itself, Martin Paterson put the visitors ahead early on, and then Jack Hobbs' header added to the score as United went in two goals ahead at half-time.

However, the hosts hit back in the second half and struck through Liam Lawrence, Richard Cresswell, and then Lawrence again to seal a big win for them, and a bad loss for the North Lincolnshire side - who looked so comfortable at half-time.

Cork is way ahead at the top of the leaderboard, with Jim Goodwin, Paterson, Andy Butler and Kelly Youga tied in second position, after taking it on three occasions each, while Ian Morris, Joe Murphy and Cliff Byrne have been top twice.

Hobbs, Grant McCann, Jonathan Forte and Geoff Horsfield have secured the award once.
