OFFICIAL SUPPORTERS CLUB NEWS UPDATE
As published in the Burnley matchday programme:
Welcome to the first ever Championship game to be held at Glanford Park. We would like to welcome the supporters from Burnley who have made the trip across the Pennines for what is their first visit to Glanford Park since they gained promotion here in May 2000. We hope you have a safe journey home.
COACH TRAVEL
SUOSC will be running an executive coach to the away game at Bristol City on Saturday August 25th. The cost of the coach is £17 for SUOSC Members and £18 for non-members.
The pick up points are Priory Hotel 7.30 am, Scunthorpe Railway Station 7.45 am and the Berkeley Hotel 8.am
Due to the success of the Charlton coach, we have been able to reduce the price by £1 from that originally advertised.
We would like to thank everyone who travelled to Charlton with us. The coach was excellent and included a toilet, radio, DVD, TV and fridge. There were also drinks and snacks for sale, as well as complimentary newspapers provided. In addition there was a raffle and a prediction competition.
We are also running an Away Travel Player of the Season, voted for by the supporters who travel on the OSC Coaches during the season. Following the Charlton match, the leader is Izzy Iriekpen.
To book your seat see any committee member in the Iron Bar or around the ground, e-mail travel@suosc.co.uk, or call Brian on 07767256465
CROSSBAR CHALLENGE
The prize fund for today's game stands at £25. Congratulations go to Josh Gomm, who won £25 for hitting the crossbar at half time of Tuesday's game against Hartlepool United. Anyone wishing to enter can see Harold and Colin in the Iron Bar, e-mail to press@suosc.co.uk or contact any Committee Members around the ground. Also thanks to all the committee members who have helped out on the pitch at half time. Brian and Dave are our referees for today. We would like to thank Adrian Garner of Garners Pharmacy, Frodingham Road Scunthorpe for kindly agreeing to sponsor this competition, which is now in its third season.
MEMBERSHIP
The membership scheme is now open, and had almost 100 members, before the season started. Members will be entitled to a free Championship Guide and a Polo Shirt. These will be sent out to members at the beginning of September. We would like to thank all the advertisers who have generously supported this venture and David Barlow Printer of Holme for all his help in producing the Ground Guide.
Membership forms can be picked up from the Iron Bar on match days or downloaded from the website at www.suosc.co.uk
STAGECOACH SERVICE
In conjunction with Stagecoach, we have arranged for a bus service to take supporters away from Glanford Park. This experimental scheme will run for the first four home Saturday League games of the season. The cost will be £2 for adults and £1 for children. If you have a ticket from travelling to Glanford Park, the return journey will be free. The route leaves from Glanford Park at 17:05 and takes in Westcliffe, Riddings, Bottesford, Ashby , Old Brumby and into town.
We are urging fans to use this service as it will help avoid congestion around Glanford Park, as well as helping the environment.
SPONSOR A GOAL
Following the success of this scheme last season, where we raised £400, we are running this scheme again this season. Anyone wishing to join can email treasurer@suosc.co.uk or contact any OSC member in the Iron Bar prior to any home match.
