Posted on: Fri 22 Aug 2008
The Iron head into this Saturday's home fixture with Peterborough United boosted by the return to training of four key players.
Paul Hayes has shaken off his ankle troubles to put himself contention for the match with the Posh, a game in which the creative striker will be hoping to renew his promising double-act with Gary Hooper.
Captain Izzy Iriekpen has received the all-clear to train after an ultrasound scan on his groin on Monday, while goalkeeper Joe Murphy looks poised for a first start of the season after shaking off groin trouble and appearing for the reserves in midweek. He has also trained.
Defender Cliff Byrne has also managed to train after being a slight doubt earlier in the week.
Defenders Kenny Milne, Andy Crosby and Joe Wilcox (all knee) are absent from the squad, as well as suspended centre-back David Mirfin.
Poised for home debuts are midfielders Sam Togwell and Martyn Woolford, while defender Krystian Pearce - signed on loan from Birmingham in midweek - could also feature.
Posh defender Jamie Day has recovered from injury and is available after playing in mid-week against Ipswich Town in a friendly.
Shane Blackett and Tom Williams are also available at left-back after recovering from illness.
